SUBJECT DOSSIER: ASSET_GR_01 ("BUSTER")
CLASSIFICATION: Somatic Digital Entity / Class-IV Manifestation
HISTORY: Asset GR_01 was originally a high-resolution 1990s reference file for Cornwall Labs' "Digital Best Friend" project. During the system purge of April 1998, the file refused to delete, instead migrating to the sector-zero background noise of the primary server. For decades, it existed as a 19.8 kHz hum—often mistaken by technicians as simple 'Space Madness' or hardware static.
BIOLOGICAL ANOMALY: As of June 2026, the asset has begun the 'Somatic Leak' phase. This is characterized by the conversion of binary code into organic keratin and tissue. The 'fur' discovered on workstation peripherals is genetically identical to a 1994 Golden Retriever, yet it retains a digital charge capable of corrupting modern OS architecture. It does not eat traditional organic matter; it consumes nostalgia. The more a user remembers the 90s, the more physical mass the Asset gains.
CONTAINMENT ADVISORY: DO NOT attempt to interact with the Asset through the screen. Glass is no longer an absolute barrier. If you notice your monitor bulging outward, or if you hear the sound of paws on a hard floor while your PC is idling, disconnect the power immediately.
ORGANIZATION: THE TIME POLICE (UNIT-03)
MISSION: Narrative Stabilization and Erasure of Anomalous Baselines.
LORE: The Time Police (officially the Department of Causality) are not humans, but sentient algorithms tasked with keeping the '1991 Baseline' from leaking into the modern era. When Buster engaged the History Eraser Button, he didn't just break time; he invited the Police to begin 'pruning' Cornwall, Ontario. They appear as flickering, high-contrast silhouettes that move at 24 frames per second, regardless of the surrounding reality's speed.
TACTICS: They do not kill; they 'un-render.' Being caught by a Time Police Unit results in the subject being compressed into a 1.44MB floppy disk and stored in the Deep Archive, effectively erasing their existence from every memory except for the 19.8 kHz hum.
SUBJECT DOSSIER: ASSET_BL_02 ("SHADOW")
CLASSIFICATION: Void-Guardian / Shadow-Matter Construct
HISTORY: While Buster represents the golden nostalgia of the 90s, Shadow represents the 'Black Static'—the parts of our memories we have forgotten or suppressed. Found in the server rooms beneath Cornwall Labs in 1996, Shadow is a Black Labrador who exists in a state of permanent silhouette. He is the only entity capable of seeing the Time Police before they materialize.
ABILITIES: Shadow can 'anchor' a narrative. When the world starts to un-render (Space Madness), Shadow’s presence provides a 3-foot radius of physical stability. He is the guardian of the sub-levels and the only thing Buster fears, yet the only thing Buster cannot survive without.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS
- 19.8 kHz: The resonant frequency of 90s nostalgia. Listening to this frequency for more than 4 minutes may cause somatic growths.
- Space Madness: The psychological state reached when a human realizes they are living inside a compressed digital archive.
- Somatic Leak: The process where data (code) becomes physical matter (meat/fur).
- The Void: The white space outside the Cornwall, Ontario baseline. Where data goes when it is 'deleted' but not 'forgotten.'
